TAMIL SERVICE OF OCBC:
The people of the Tamil Service of Otahuhu Community Baptist Church are a bunch of vibrant, colourful and active members. This group has been in existence since May 1999. The Tamil Service members have immigrated to New Zealand from different parts of India and also the world. The majority of them are Tamil speaking and a few of them are non-Tamil speaking, but they do understand Tamil to an extent. Some do try to learn and understand the language. Hence to cater everybody, we have our services both in Tamil and English.
One outstanding characteristic of the Tamil people is that they know how to gel and live together in unity even though we have come from different backgrounds. In our early days, we had many challenges and hurdles, but by God's guiding hand we have grown strong and have come a long way. We have practically lived up to the Scriptures in the sayings of Paul to the Corinthian church (1 Corinthians 12: 26) - "If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it". We are proud of that and at the same time humbled by the kind of love everyone shows towards one another. We have thus grown and have grown into a large family and we're still continuing to grow by the abundant grace of our Lord.
The other remarkable characteristic of the Tamil Service is The Worship, with a very strong Worship Team made up of talented, dedicated and committed musicians. The Worship Team has been blessed with the ability to make any person to connect with the Lord Almighty in spirit and worship Him in spirit and truth.
All the members enjoy and actively participate in a number of ministry programs through the calendar year. The various ministries of the congregation are: Cell Groups, Bible Studies, Fasting Prayer Meetings, All Night Prayer Meetings, Kid's Ministries and Outreach Ministries. Besides these we take special delight in our Annual Summer Camps and occasional picnics. Our prayer is that God will use us as a blessing to all.
Dear Friend, if you are reading this, please do know that we have prayed for you already.
May God bless you richly.
